It is all too often that people who do a job well simply receive a thanks along with a smile and a hand shake. You two deserve more, so I thought I would write down some of my thoughts about your work.
The love of your craft and the skill with which you applied it were soon evident as you began building our home, and continue to catch my eye even after I have lived here for a while. Of special note are the details in the interior work that you crafted because it was "just the right thing to do." The cherry inlay on the face boards, the added attention to the staircase and railing, and the mortise and tendon cedar beams are the most obvious examples.
The quality of your work also shows in how efficient our house operates. The combination of the quality of your work and the ADA construction that you used allows us to heat our house for 10-cents per square foot for the entire year ($350 for LP).
But equally important to these "physical" attributes that you brought to our house are the values of honesty and integrity that are the foundation of your work. You have earned my trust and respect as much for these values as for your house-making skills.
Enough said -- so let it go to your head a bit. And use me as a reference any time.
